“I had a fantastic week hunting black bear with Shan & Sali from Ursa Major in Nova Scotia. Their professionalism and knowledge along with the fact that nothing was too much trouble to make our stay comfortable, made for a lovely experience! In this instance, I didn’t come home with the black bear I wanted but Shan still put me in front of a mature boar which was the aim, but through no one’s fault, the bear wasn’t in a position for me to take a clean & humane shot, however the other hunter who was out with Sali that week harvested a nice sized bear, then Shan (who’s a qualified meat handler with some serious skills!) patiently showed me the finer details of breaking down a bear to all the specific usable cuts which I really appreciated. The hotel accommodation was lovely, and as much as I enjoy camping, coming back to a comfy bed and a hot shower after a frosty night in a tree stand was a really nice treat. The food options on offer from the local restaurants which they provide via a custom menu to order from (and then hand deliver to your door!) should satisfy even the fussiest of eaters. I can honestly say that I enjoyed absorbing their knowledge on the local fauna and flora as much as I did the physical hunting side of things.
